BARKHAMSTED – The Plainville wrestling team is certainly on a bit of a roll now.
After victories over New Haven and Rockville, the Blue Devils were invited to the Northwestern Regional Round Robin Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 5.
And, as only Plainville could do, the squad came away with its biggest victory of the campaign.
The Blue Devils took first place and, behind the power of 136 points, sank Canton (109) and Edwin O. Smith (92) while also dispatching the likes of Gilbert, Wolcott Tech, Harding and the host squad, Northwestern.
And it certainly was an interesting format that was used at the Tournament
Wrestlers competed in a round-robin tournament against as many as five wrestlers in their respective weight classes.
For the Blue Devils, it meant several first place finishes.
Plainville’s Connor Oakes (154 pounds), Mischa Hoffman (162) Marcus Slivinsky (182) Tim West (195), and Dylan Fusco (285) won their respective weight classes at the event.
Tim Lister (113), Dom Valardi (138), and Kurt Walker (170) placed second while Cedric Rivera (145) and Justin Plourde placed third.
