PHS swimmers take 15th place in Class S

MIDDLETOWN – The Plainville boys swimming team finished 15th in the Class S championship on March 13 from Wesleyan University in Middletown.
Weston took the championship with 698 points while Sacred Heart placed second with 538.
The Blue Devils netted 134 points, 13 behind Wamogo who placed 14th to end the day.
The Blue Devils swam very well in Middletown and had some very good finishes up and down their line-up.
Plainville’s top placer came in the 100-yard backstroke event as Wojciech Plachta swam a very tough race.
Plachta took fifth and finished the fray in 1:00.26, earning his squad’s 24 points.
In the 200 yard medley relay, Plainville took 14th place as the grouping of Ed Lee, Trevor Roy, Nick Evangelista, and Chris Utley finished in 1:57.60 while in the 200-yard freestyle, Wojciech Plachta placed 10th at 1:55.13.
Evangelista finished the 100 yard butterfly in 1:01.10, placing 18th, while Austin Cameron took 22nd in the 100 yard freestyle with a final time of 53.98 seconds.
Plainville’s Julius Brown took the pool in the challenging 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 5:49.57 for 22nd place.
In the 200 yard freestyle event, the foursome of Cameron, Utley, Plachta and Justin Freitas placed 16th, racing in the B – Final and finishing with a time of 1:40.30.
Finally in the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Blue Devils took 11th place as the grouping of Cameron, Evangelista, Plachta, and Freitas were clocked in at 3:38.99.
