A charming novel from the New York Times Best Sellers list will be the next topic of the Friends of the Plainville Public Library book discussion group. āMajor Pettigrewās Last Standā by first time novelist, Helen Simonson, is about Major Ernest Pettigrew (retired), who leads a quiet life in the village of St. Mary, England, until his brotherās death sparks an unexpected friendship with Mrs. Jasmina Ali, the Pakistani shopkeeper from the village. But will their relationship survive in a society that considers Ali a foreigner?
The program will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. at the library, 56 East Main St., Plainville. It is free, extra copies of the book are available at the library and new members to the group are always welcomed.
