PLAINVILLE – Over the past few years, the Central Connecticut Conference volleyball tournament has been a major warm-up for the squads in the Greater Hartford area.

Teams are usually eager to squeeze in a couple addition games before the playoffs begin and the competition is not just fierce but entertaining to watch.

The level of play is always sensational and once again, Plainville will be hosting part of the CCC tournament.

The CCC had once again decided to hold the girls volleyball tournament at Plainville High School and the Ivan Wood Gymnasium will be a destination.

“The people of Plainville and the area will have a chance to see some great volleyball as the teams that are in the upper ranks of the CCC are also among the top 10 or 20 teams in the state,” said Plainville girls volleyball coach Steve Compson about the CCC tournament. “And our tournament might feature match-ups that will not be possible in the state tournament because of school size (during) two nights of sizzling volleyball action.”

“Plainville should be proud about how people around the conference feel about our facility.”

Over the past two tournaments, the weather has either knocked out parts or – in the case of the 2011 CCC Championship – cancelled the thing entirely.

This coming weekend, expect some great play from the court in Plainville.

Here’s the tentative schedule for the upcoming slate of CCC action:
