Plainville represented on All-Conference squad

PLAINVILLE – The Central Connecticut Conference recently released its All Conference teams and in terms of boys and girls basketball, along with wrestling, Plainville high school had a representative on each of the squads.
In boys hoop, junior Austin Butler was named to the CCC South All Conference team and was an easy selection to make.
Butler was Plainville’s leading scorer in 2013-14 and had several huge scoring outbursts throughout the campaign.
Against Bristol Central on February 15, Butler dumped in a career best 31 points while in a home loss to Bulkeley on January 27, he scored 27.
Others that made the squad from the other CCC South teams included Daron McKoy from Bristol Eastern, Jashar Haslem from Bulkeley, Tracy Rumley and Martin from Maloney, Kyhre Jackson from Platt and Brenden Vessechio and Dom Nuzzo from Berlin.
From the Co-CCC South champion Bristol Central and Middletown, Jacob Collins, Manny Severino and Joey DeFillippi all made it from the Rams while big Brandon Simmons earned a slot on the squad from the Blue Dragons.
On the girls end of things, Plainville’s Kelsey Clemens made the CCC South All Conference team and the honor was certainly well deserved.
Clemens became the school’s latest 1,000-point scorer and against Bristol Central in the final regular season game of her career, she dumped in 28 points in a big Plainville victory.
Alicia Maule from Berlin made the CCC South team as did Erika Monsalve and Chandler Walker from Bristol Central.
Also making the team were Mya Rios from Maloney, Keyna Anselme from Bulkeley, Brianna Sheftel from Platt, and Tamyia King and Rajeen Mayo from Middletown.
The CCC South champions, Bristol Eastern, had three members make the all conference squad in the form of Daijia Brooks, Jamilla Shoultz and Amanda Zdun.
On the wrestling front, Blue Devils’ big man Dylan Fusco earned All CCC South honors as did several other local athletes.
At heavyweight, Fusco battled the best of what the CCC had to offer and usually more than held his own.
Also netting CCC South honors were Mike Burek, Jeremy Eliades, Ethan Greider from Berlin, Tyler Burrow and Ian Gonzalez from Bristol Central, Chris Herrera, Jophy Nieves, Ryan Pantalena and Dimitri Smith from Maloney, Jordan Baker, Cody Carrillo, Jacob Grasis, Jamar Jones and Nate Roy from Middletown and Marlon Arquetta, John Bernardo, Bernard Figuroa, Yousseff Saez, Jakob Skalski and Alex Tixi from Platt.
And from the 2013-14 CCC South champion Bristol Eastern squad, Tyler Dionne, Zach Marquis, Dan Morocho, Austin Parks, Dallen Pearson, Jacob Pelletier, Kyle Porter, Zac Thompson, and Josh Wilson earned the conference’s top honors.
