Photography class for teens offered at library

The Plainville Public Library will hold a series of photography classes in July and August for students in grades 7 to 12. The free classes will be taught by a Judy Humphrey, a retired photojournalist and publicist. The classes are scheduled for Wednesday mornings 10 to 11:30 a.m. from July 9 to Aug. 6.

They will include: an introduction to photography, walking field trips to Plainville center to take pictures and a class on naming, matting and framing photos. The photographs will be displayed at the New Britain Museum of American Art over the week of Aug. 22 with an opening reception on Thursday, Aug. 21.

The class is limited to 10 students.

Students may use any digital camera or smart phone for the class. The library can provided a limited number of digital cameras for students who don’t have one.

Registration for the classes is open currently. Students need to fill out a registration/ parental permission form to enroll. The classes are sponsored by a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain.
