The Miss Connecticut Scholarship Corporation, a nonprofit organization that supplies thousands of dollars in scholarships to local young women each year will hold its annual Miss Connecticut and Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen pageant at the GardeArtsCenter in New London, Conn. June 26 to 28. Seventeen Miss and 18 Teen contestants from all over Connecticut will compete for the coveted state titles. This year’s pageant will feature several “Forever Miss Connecticut’s,” women who have previously held the title of Miss Connecticut.
“We are always reinventing the state pageant to put on a fresh and exhilarating show,” said Stanley Boyes, longtime volunteer with the Miss Connecticut Scholarship Corporation and the state pageant’s executive producer, in a press release. “This year. we will welcome back our Forever Miss Connecticuts to showcase the outstanding women who have been a part of this program over its 86 year history. These are doctors, lawyers, journalists, civic leaders, mothers — all women active in their community with notable professional, personal and academic accomplishments.”
One Miss and one Teen contestant will join the ranks of the previous titleholders during the final night of competition Saturday, June 28. The new Miss Connecticut will compete for the title of Miss America in Atlantic City, N.J. Sunday, Sept. 14. The new Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen will compete for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen in OrlandoFlorida in August.
The Miss Connecticut Organization will also say farewell to its current state titleholders Miss Connecticut 2013 Kaitlyn Tarpey, and Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen 2013 Tiana Dyson.
“We are incredibly grateful and thankful for Kaitlyn and Tiana’s outstanding service during their reign,” said Gail McCool, executive director for the Miss Connecticut Scholarship Corporation. “They are both true role models for young women in Connecticut, and we know they will continue on to achieve many great things in their futures.”
All 35 participants in this year’s pageant will be competing in on-stage competitions including talent, evening wear, lifestyle & fitness, and on-stage question. The week’s events schedule is as follows:
Preliminary Competitions: Thursday, June 26 and Friday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m.
Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen’s Top Ten Competition: Saturday, June 28 at 2 p.m.
