Both the girls and boys track teams from Plainville were in action at the Class M outdoor track championships on Monday, June 2.
And even as the Blue Devils were one of the smallest schools at the event, the girls and boys squads certainly made more than a little noise at the showcase from Sheehan High School.
On the girls’ side of things, Shea Echols earned herself a trip to the finals of the 100 meter dash.
In the preliminaries, Echols took sixth place with a time of 13.23 to qualify for the main event.
In the finals, the Plainville speedster finished in sixth place in 13.25 seconds to nab her squad four points in the overall standings.
But she wasn’t done yet.
Echols had a huge showing in the 200 meters and her final time earned her a spot in the state open event on Monday, June 9.
She ran the 200 in a time of 26.41 seconds, good for fourth place, and a trip to the open challenge.
On the boys’ side of things, both Qunetix Lux and Omar Abdelsame found success on the track that day.
Lux was in the 800 meter race, the half challenge, and earned a fifth place time of 1:59.52.
That time, which was outstanding, was just 0.52 seconds off the state open qualifying mark.
In the two-mile quest, Abdelsame placed third overall as his time of 9:55.05 was just 10 seconds off the open qualification standard.
