The polls are scheduled to be open in Plainville on Tuesday, Aug. 12 for the Republican Primary election, and voter registration deadlines have been set.
During the primary election day, all four polling places will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Linden Street School, Our Lady of Mercy (OLM) Parish Center, Toffolon School, and Wheeler School. Voter applications sent by mail must be postmarked by Aug. 7, and applications submitted in person are due Aug. 11 at noon. Unaffiliated voters may enroll in a major party if they adhere to the deadlines. The deadline to switch to another major party took place May 12, 2014.
Candidates of the Republican primary are: Tom Foley running against John McKinney for the governor candidacy; Penny Bacchiochi is running against Heather Somers and David Walker for the lieutenant governor’s candidacy; and Sharon McLaughlin is running against Angel Cadena for the GOP comptroller nomination.
A limited registration session will take place Monday, Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. until noon for those whose qualifications as to age, citizenship or residence was attained after the July 29 deadline. In order to vote in Connecticut, residents must be at least 18 years old on or before the next election, be a U.S. citizen, be a resident of a Connecticut town, and must not have been convicted of a felony.
Voting will take place in all four districts:
*District 1: Linden Street School, 69 Linden St.
*District 2: OLM Parish Center, 19 South Canal St.
*District 3: Toffolon School, 145 Northwest Dr.
*District 4: Wheeler School, 15 Cleveland Memorial Dr.
