Price Chopper partners with Red Cross to ‘Give what fire takes’

This September, Price Chopper is once again joining forces with the American Red Cross to “Give What Fire Takes.” From Sept. 1 to Sept. 30, Price Chopper shoppers can join the effort to support families affected by home fires, and enable communities to prepare for these tragic events, by making donations to Red Cross Home Fire Relief at checkout. Price Chopper will match all donations made during the month, up to $5,000.

“The Red Cross responds to more than 800 disasters in our region each year, and the vast majority of those are home fires,” Stefanie Arcangelo, chief communications officer of American Red Cross Connecticut, said in a press release. “The support we receive from Price Chopper, Market 32 and their customers this September helps to ensure that we can provide relief to fire victims all year long, and keep working diligently to reduce fire-related deaths and injuries in our communities.”

Every eight minutes, the Red Cross responds to a home fire or other disaster in the United States. All gifts made to Home Fire Relief through the “Give What Fire Takes” campaign will enable the Red Cross to provide critical services to people impacted by home fires, along with lifesaving tools and information to support home fire prevention efforts.

“We hear so many news stories about home loss due to fire, and the Red Cross is always a part of those stories, providing shelter and assistance to the victims,” Price Chopper Director of Community Relations Pam Cerrone said in the release. “Our involvement in the ‘Give What Fire Takes’ campaign raises awareness about the support provided by the Red Cross after a fire, and gives people an opportunity to support their efforts. We’re so pleased to be able to help an organization that helps so many.”
