Melissa Orfitelli has been named with assistant principal of Linden Street School and the Middle School of Plainville, according to a press release from the Plainville Board of Education.
Orfitelli, first joined the Plainville Community Schools as a third grade teacher at Linden in 2012, and was appointed head teacher in 2014. Her role as head teacher included assisting with building operations, scheduling, school climate initiatives, professional development, student behavior support, and more. In 2015, Orfitelli also took on the role of a literacy resource teacher.
As assistant principal, Orfitelli will “assist in the establishment and maintenance of district and school policies and procedures, create, maintain, and promote program development to meet the needs of the student populations, and serve as a resource to teachers and non-certified staff, including teacher evaluation and development.” Her work will also included serving as a positive behavior intervention and support liaison, offer student behavior support assistance, coordinate Linden’s wellness philosophy, foster parent and community stakeholder partnerships, and more, according to the press release.
“Ms. Orfitelli has already made a very positive impact in Plainville Community Schools over the last seven years in her work as head teacher and instructional resource teacher at Linden Street School,” said superintendent, Dr. Maureen Brummett.
