Obituaries: Mary Antoinette Daly

Mary Antoinette (DiBiagio) Daly, 88, of Flagler Beach, FL, formerly of Plainville, passed away after a brief illness, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, July 28, 2018.  She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Richard “Dick” Daly, who predeceased her in 2008.

Mary was born in New Britain on February 26, 1930, the last surviving of three children to the late John and Michaelina DiBiagio.  Raised in New Britain, she was a 1948 graduate of St. Mary’s High School, and went on to work as a switchboard operator at Marlin-Rockwell, where she met her best friend and future husband, Dick.  They married in 1957, settling in Plainville where they raised their three children.  A devoted wife and mother, Mary stayed home to raise her family, going back to work as a waitress in the 1970’s at Cooke’s Tavern as well as in jewelry retail.  She and Dick spent their retirement years in Flagler Beach, where they moved in 2006.  Mary was a woman of strong spiritual faith, and longtime member of the Women Aglow in both Plainville and Palm Coast.  She attended Church on the Rock in Palm Coast, and was a volunteer for the Flagler Auditorium where she made many friends as one of their greeters.  She enjoyed tending her flowers and gardens, taking frequent trips to Maine to watch her favorite hummingbirds, doing crossword puzzles (always checking the back for the answers!), and looked forward to annual family reunions, no matter how big or small they were.  She was a true social butterfly with an infectious personality and love for life, who will be greatly missed by the many people she connected with.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Manchester and her husband, Rick of New Britain, Maureen “Mo” Rio of Palm Coast, FL., and Richard Daly and his wife, Christine of West Hartford; and was a proud Grammy to her two granddaughters, Jasmine Neliz and Alexa.  She also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends in Connecticut, Maine and Florida.  She was predeceased by her brother, Ignatius DiBiagio and her sister, Bernadine Pardi.

Mary may remembered with contributions to Church on the Rock, 2200 N. State St., Bunnell, FL 32110 or online at www.churchontherockpc.com
