Plainville High

girls volleyball

Head coach – Bob Moffo, 2nd year (0-20)

Last year’s record – 0-20

Key losses – Caitlin Bradley, Isabel Lozefski, Anna Stehle, Desiree Wesolowski

Key returnees – Tori Corriveau, sr.; Samantha Lozefski, jr.; Margaret Cronkhite, jr.; Olivia Gajor, jr.; Katharine Tanguay, jr.

Key newcomers – Shai-yonna Durham, Wiktoria Galazyn

Team outlook – Moffo says the Blue Devils will be rebuilding this season, but they do return some experience from last year’s team. Moffo will be leaning on key returnees Corriveau, Lozefski, Cronkhite, Gajor, and Tanguay to carry the load for the Blue Devils. Durham and Galazyn are newcomers to the volleyball program. Plainville lost senior captains Bradley, Isabel Lozefski, Stehle and Wesolowski to graduation from the 2017 team.

Division outlook – The Blue Devils are in the Patriot Division of the CCC South Region, which is a tough place to be. The other two teams are always tough Bristol Eastern and fellow Mum City school Bristol Central. Those are the two teams Plainville opens against this season. The Blue Devils host the Rams in the season opener on Sept. 7 at 5:30 p.m., then go to Bristol to face the Lancers on Sept. 11 at 6. Plainville also faces fellow CCC South Region teams Platt, Berlin, Maloney and Middletown in single crossover matches.

Non-conference opponents – Plainville is playing 17 of its 20 matches against CCC opponents. When the Blue Devils do venture outside the CCC, they will play against Sports and Medical Sciences Academy, Wilby and Kennedy.
