The Plainville Economic Development Agency announced that on Tuesday, March 5, The Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St., will be presented with the 2018 Kristian Jensen Jr. Memorial Beautification Award.
According to a release from the Town of Plainville, Andrea Wasley and the Plainville Funeral Home are staples in the Plainville community.
“This award recognizes her investment in the community she calls home and the creation of an oasis where there was formerly a blighted parking lot,” officials said in the release.
Wasley is a third generation resident of Plainville, and she graduated from Plainville High School in the 1990s. She graduated from the former Briarwood College with a degree in mortuary science, and in 1997 she earned her funeral director and embalmers license.
The Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice recognizes Wasley as a certified funeral service practitioner, according to the Plainville Funeral Home website (www.plainvillefh. com).
When she isn’t busy at the Plainville Funeral Home, Wasley is also involved in several community organizations, including the Plainville Rotary Club, the Plainville Community Food Pantry, and is a new member of the Plainville Community Fund. She also volunteers for the Plainville Adult Resource Center, the Petit Family Foundation, the United Way of West Central Connecticut, and the Quota Club of Bristol.
Her volunteerism also has international reach, as an affiliate of Pure Water for the World.
Those planning to attend the presentation, should contact Cal Hauburger, the interim economic development and special projects coordinator, by email, email@example.com, by Monday, March 4.
