Community rallies around victims of home fire

The community is rallying for a local family of five, displaced after a house fire last week.

A local family narrowly escaped a house fire on Hardwood Road, above, in the early morning hours last Wednesday. According to reports, the family was forced to climb out a window to escape the blaze.

The family of five, including three boys aged 3-9 escaped the building, but firefighters recovered the bodies of two dogs and a cat from the home. Officials are still looking for two lost cats.

The family lost their house, pets, and all their belongings, but residents have organized a donation drive at the Plainville Fire Department. Donations can be dropped at the station at 77 West Main St.

Residents are collecting  dongations of clothes, toys, household items, and gift cards for the displaced family.
