Lake Compounce announces May 9 opening

Opening day for Lake Compounce is around the corner – May 9.

Lake Compounce, which bills itself as the oldest amusement park in the nation is starting its 2015 season off with a bang, reported a news release from the park.

New additions to the park include: a new Dinosaur Expedition attraction, new Season Pass option, new Croc Pot menu, more themed events such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Luau, and the opening of Lake Compounce Watering Hole. Bear Creek Campground at Lake Compounce also includes additions such as, new lodging and entertainment.

The release explained Dino Expedition, the new prehistoric themed area for 2015, will offer guests of all ages the opportunity to encounter moving and breathing lifelike dinosaurs and explore their history through a variety of facts and trivia. The walk through the prehistoric paths will give guests the chance to experience the up to 40-foot-long animatronic dinosaurs up close at their own pace. The state of the art animatronics create moving creatures that breathe, roar and look around for their prey. The open-air fossil dig area will give even the littlest guests the chance to unearth fossils.

Lake Compounce Season Passes are $50 for a Summer Pass and $79.99 for a Platinum Pass.

A new Diamond Pass will be offered starting this 2015 season. The Diamond Pass provides the same perks as the Platinum Pass plus more. Diamond Pass Holders will receive a souvenir cup, meal deal ticket, five free locker rentals, 10 percent discount on food and retail purchases, and more.  All guests who purchase a Day Ticket have the option to upgrade their ticket to either one of the three season passes by visiting guest relations. Parking Passes good for unlimited parking are available to purchase for an additional $34.

The new Croc Pot menu now features southern-style fried chicken and sides, including macaroni and cheese, biscuits, mashed potatoes, and more.

Additional themed events have been added to this season’s calendar. For example, on Mother’s Day, mothers get in free with a buy one ticket, get one free promotion, available online only. Mothers will get a chance to relax in our “relaxation zone” while the children partake in an arts and crafts to make a special gift for mom. There will also be a Luau on July 17 and 18 with a pig roast to a steel drum band and hula dancers.

The Lake Compounce Watering Hole is the newest food and refreshment location within the park, featuring beverages from local breweries to give guests a taste of Connecticut’s best.

Bear Creek Campground will open on May 1, 2015 for its first full season. Reservations can be made by phone or directly On In addition to the 20 fully-furnished cabins, 56 RV, 30 tent sites, and 5 tipis, the campground will also be adding six Cub Huts. Each Cub Hut comfortably sleeps four people on two full-size beds. Cub Huts also include: a mini fridge, air conditioning, heating and cable TV. For additional fun, a swing set and half basketball court will be added to the campground.
