Born in Savannah, GA on March 15, 1942, he was a son of the late George and Elizabeth (Jones) Adams. Raised in Brooklyn where he attended school, he later resided in Boston, where he met his wife, Dorothy. Married in 1977, their families joined together creating a family of thirteen, and settled in Plainville in 1983. A man of hard work ethics, he worked in construction, retired from auto sales, and recently retired for the second time from Easter Seals this past April. Adam and Dorothy traveled extensively together, always looking forward to returning home to be surrounded by his adored family. People were drawn to Adam by his infectious smile, quick wit and love of music. He would open his home and his heart to everyone. He was affectionately known as Poppi or the coolest down to earth, Uncle Adam. He will be missed immensely, leaving a legacy of love, laughter and many priceless memories.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy Foster, he leaves his children, Vaneen and her husband, Wendel Anderson, Sr., Kensey Adams and his wife, Angie, Kenneth Adams, Keith Thompson, Alicia Marshall and her husband, Alan, Samuel Jones and his fiancé, Alicia, Lynette Burkhardt and her husband, Rick, Kellye Jones, Nichole Brown and her husband, Garfield, Adam D. Foster, and Crystal Foster and her husband, Rocco. He was the beloved Poppi to over 50 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, and leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Emma Adams along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Kevin (Jamal) and Jerry Adams, and two grandsons, Kevin and Jahkim.
Family and friends may gather in celebration of Adam’s life on Sunday, December 22, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville. Words of remembrance will be shared a 2:00 p.m.
